Salaet Invests in PA for U.S. Headquarters

Executives from the company Salaet stand in a conference room at a podium and make an announcement

Based out of Gandesa, Spain, Salaet is a distinguished leader in the global food packaging industry and specializes in sustainable products. When the company decided it was ready to open a headquarters in the United States, it embarked on an extensive two-year search for the perfect location. Ultimately, that location ended up being Wayne County, Pennsylvania.

It's a strategic decision for the company—and BusinessPA's international team helped make the deal happen, alongside partner organizations like Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO) and Penn's Northeast. Our team worked with these regional experts to listen to the company's needs, answer questions, and help them find a site where they could grow.

The company is setting up shop in a stunning 33,500-square-foot facility at the Sterling Business and Technology Park. The location leverages many of the benefits of being in Pennsylvania, including our state's proximity to major markets, and access to our bustling ports and robust infrastructure network—critical for their global operations and to expand their customer base.

The location... is very close to the Interstate and ports for shipping, and within 45 minutes we can deliver to our existing customers, and potential new customers in a one day’s driving distance.”

It's no small investment, either. The company is channeling approximately $7 million into this U.S. venture and plans to create around 35 jobs within three years, with aspirations to achieve this milestone even sooner. And with Pennsylvania's ongoing investments in expanding our manufacturing workforce - we have over 100 apprenticeship programs targeting the industry - we're helping make sure that companies like Salaet can easily fill those positions.

Local economic development leaders have expressed enthusiasm for Salaet’s decision. John L. Augustine III, President and CEO of Penn’s Northeast, told Business Facilities, “We are thrilled to welcome Salaet to Wayne County in Northeastern PA’s growing manufacturing sector. Their commitment to sustainability, job creation, and community engagement aligns perfectly with our region’s strengths.”

Justin Taylor, Executive Director of WEDCO, also shared his excitement about the project: “Public-private partnerships like these are what drive progress, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact Salaet will have on Wayne County and beyond.”

As more companies like Salaet look to expand to the North American market, Pennsylvania will continue to make the strategic investments to keep attracting global businesses to the Commonwealth.
